How to choose the right skip size for your project

Picking the right skip size is one of those small decisions that saves you real money and hassle. Too small and you are booking a second skip. Too big and you are paying for fresh air. Here is how we help customers across London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex get it right first time.

Start with the type of waste. A garden clear out is light and bulky, so it fills a skip fast without weighing much. Soil, rubble and concrete are the opposite, heavy and dense, so a smaller skip often makes more sense than you would think. Mixing the two changes the picture again.

As a rough guide, a small builders skip suits a bathroom strip out or a modest garden job. A midi or maxi skip fits most home renovations and larger clearances. For construction and groundwork we run all the way up to 40 yard bins, and grab hire is often the better call for heavy muck away where access is tight.

Access matters too. If a skip cannot be sited on your drive, you may need a permit for the road, or a grab lorry that loads from the kerb without one. We can talk you through both.
